What are the benefits of being a CriticalGamers reviewer?

As this site is still expanding, not all benefits may apply at the current time. However, they are planned and/or are undergoing development.

  • Separate, individual page which lists your articles, can be customized, and links to your forum profile
  • (Soon) Reviewer status identification on the forums. Its all about the respect, man. ;)
  • Votes on reviews carry more weight for reviewers, how much weight depends on your current reviewerscore
  • Top scoring reviewers will periodically receive prizes (think Gamefly™), in addition to having their name appear on each page of the site in the Top Reviewers box
  • Other currently undisclosed benefits

Who qualifies?

Anyone and everyone who can show that they are capable of coherent, original, independent writing is welcome and encouraged to become a reviewer for the CriticalGamers community. You must first be a member of the forums to help ease communication between our readers and our reviewers and because we use your forum username and password to authenticate you when you log in to post a review.

How do I apply?

All users requesting to be granted reviewer status must complete the following form and submit it to the site administrators. We require this of all our reviewers in order to discourage the spam and immaturity that is often present at other videogame sites. Please ensure that the email address you supply is valid, as we will use it to inform you how to go about submitting your reviews. Also, please include around 300 words of sample writing along with your application that we can use to determine your eligibility. This can be a review you have already been working on, some independent writing you've done, or even an excerpt from a school assignment, so long as it is your own work. This material will only used to verify your literary skills and will never be published by us. Plagiarism will not be tolerated... please, don't embarass yourself.

In the event that you are not selected, we will inform you of our decision, and we request that you wait at least three months before reapplying for the position. Additionally, should the quality of your submissions deteriorate, we reserve the right to remove your reviewer status and/or any of your submissions. We will never censor a reviewer's opinion, but we may remove poorly written reviews from time to time. Basically, a poorly written review will receive a low review score from our members, and we will use this score to reevaluate reviewers.
